SEM/EPMA: imaging with CL and BSE detectors (FEI Quanta 400f); mineral composition analysis and element mapping with EDS and WDS (Cameca SX-100)
ICPMS: analytical techniques include laser ablation split-stream (LASS) U-Th-Pb isotopic and trace element analysis on zircon, monazite, xenotime, titanite, allanite (in thin section and/or grain mount); Hf isotopes in zircon, Nd isotopes in monazite; LASS depth profiling in zircon; trace elements in garnet and whole-rock glasses; Lu-Hf solution analysis. Instruments operated include Nu Instruments Plasma HR multi-collector ICPMS, Nu Instruments AttoM single-collector ICPMS, Agilent 7700x quadrupole ICPMS
Clean Laboratory: isotope-dilution ion-exchange chromatography for garnet Lu-Hf geochronology (Pacific Centre for Isotopic and Geochemical Research, UBC, Canada)
Other: mineral separation, sample preparation for XRF and XRD, thin section preparation
